Kwayatsut

Provides 30 units of transitional housing and varying levels of support to youth ages 16 to 24, of any gender, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Participants work with a youth housing worker to create a plan based on life skills, employment, education, and transition planning goals. Maximum stay is two years. Participants must be able to pay rent geared to income (up to 30 percent of monthly income). Referrals can be made directly by Vancouver-based Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services Society (VACFSS); self-referrals accepted. Support staff are on site from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm Saturdays and Sundays, and overnight from 9 pm to 5 am seven days per week. Funded by BC Housing and MCFD.
