Provides tuition-free English classes for adult newcomers to Canada who are permanent residents or convention refugees. Provides students English language training from Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 1 through 8. Placement of new students is determined by testing administered by the Vancouver Language Assessment Centre or Surrey Language Assessment Centre. Content helps to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Also helps students to gain knowledge about community resources and life in Canada, as well as build confidence and independence in their ability to access services and participate in Canadian society. Program hours vary. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
