Legal Advocacy Program

Legal advocates offer pro-bono legal advice and representation for low-income seniors over 55 years in the areas of residential tenancy/housing, benefits, pensions, and debt issues. Eligibility criteria include income, assets, and the nature of services sought. Gross income must be under $45,000 for a one-person household plus $20,000 per additional household member (eg. $65,000 for two, $85,000 for three, and $105,000 for four). An asset test and eligibility for representation and drafting services is discussed during the intake process; exceptions made on a case-by-case basis. To book a consultation, call the Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL) from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday.
