Legal Advocate Program

Provides individualized legal information to those faced with poverty law issues who cannot afford traditional services of a lawyer. Services include information and referral, applications, forms, written information, and hearings and tribunals as applicable. Also works toward community awareness of the justice system and poverty laws, including laws related to tenancy, income assistance, employment insurance, disability pensions, and the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). Facilitates public legal education sessions. Program staff work from the Dawson Creek SPCRS office and will travel and/or host virtual meetings to serve people in Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge. Hours are by appointment only from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Funded by the Law Foundation of BC.
