Service Description

Free, low-barrier medical clinic for the South Fraser region serving everyone, including refugees and immigrants; clients may or may not have Medical Services Plan (MSP) coverage. Physicians and nurses provide general health services, including testing and counselling for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, hepatitis, and HIV/AIDS. Provides counselling for mental health issues, and referrals regarding alcohol and drug addiction. Drop-in clinic hours are 10 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4:40 pm Mondays, and 1 pm to 4:30 pm Tuesday to Friday; appointment not required to access services. Physician services are available in English; client may bring own interpreter. Other languages may be available for other services depending on staffing. The Opioid Agonist Treatment Clinic provides a prescribed medicine such as methadone or suboxone, to stabilize persons 19 years of age or older who are addicted to opioid drugs such as heroin, oxycodone, hydromorphone, and fentanyl, and to help reduce harms associated with opioid use. Treatment is provided in a supervised clinical setting and also offers access to medical and counselling services, housing support, and referral to additional treatments. Accepts self-referrals; walk-ins are also accepted. Hours are 1 pm to 5 pm Mondays and 9:30 am to 12 noon Thursdays. Positive Point Harm Reduction provides opioid users with free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) that can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, and fentanyl. Needle exchange services include distribution of clean needles, sterile water, and alcohol wipes; disposal of used needles; and health information to encourage safer injection practices. Also provides testing of substances to detect fentanyl contamination. On-site hours are 12 noon to 4 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm, seven days a week. Mobile unit hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday for those unable to get to the site. Funded by Fraser Health.
