Mental Health Supportive Housing

Provides support services to people with serious and persistent mental illnesses, so that they can live as independently as possible in an affordable residential environment of their choice, compatible with their individual needs. Focus is on assisting clients in developing and maintaining skills, and accessing community resources in order to enhance their recovery. There is a range of housing and service options, including community living support, rental subsidies, and shared housing with subsidized rents. The Supported Independent Living Program helps clients find apartments and provides ongoing support services. Referral required from the Burnaby Mental Health and Substance Use outpatient centre. Program participants must be clients of Burnaby Mental Health Services having diagnosed psychiatric disorders requiring ongoing treatment.
