My Refugee Claim

Assists refugee claimants to prepare for their refugee hearing through two resources. The Orientation Booklet provides an overview of the refugee protection process and guide to making a refugee claim in Canada. Informs and empowers service providers in their understanding of the refugee hearing preparation process. Refugee claimants and service providers learn about legal definitions and issues pertaining to refugee protection. Helps users learn strategies to prepare for the refugee hearing; complete a hearing preparation checklist; and find legal and community resources. Guide can be downloaded from the website and is available in English as well as Amharic, Arabic, Creole, Farsi, French, Hindi, Lingala, Spanish, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu. Ready Tours prepare refugee claimants for refugee hearings by providing an explanation about what to expect during the hearing and offers suggestions on how to prepare for it; volunteers provide interpretation services. Tours are free, virtual, and facilitated by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB). Priority is given to clients with scheduled hearings; pre-registration is required by phone or emailing readytours@myrefugeeclaim.ca.
