Housing stabilization program for residents age 19 and older who are experiencing challenges with paying their rent and/or essential utilities (gas, hydro). Eligible applicants can receive up to $3,500 in financial assistance, with funds paid directly to landlords or utility providers. Loan repayment begins three months after approval, with flexible repayment terms ranging form 24 to 36 months, although renters can choose to repay early. Application process involves completing an online application through the BC Rent Bank (bcrentbank.ca/apply), submitting required documents (including bank statements, ID, and a tenancy agreement), and undergoing an initial screening by a case manager. Once approved, loan processing takes approximately one to two weeks. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, landed immigrants, or permanent residents.
