North Shore Intimate Partner Violence Unit (NSIPVU)

A specialized and integrated team with a focus on offender responsibility and the protection of women, children, and any family members who are in highest risk intimate partner violence situations. The unit offers safety planning, coordination with community partners, heightened police awareness and response, and confidentiality with outreach workers. Team includes members from the RCMP, community-based victim service workers, and a child protection worker as well as a Squamish First Nation justice worker. Accepts referral from self or other; includes referrals from police officers, service providers including Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) staff, and community- and police-based victim services. Offered in partnership with North Vancouver RCMP, the Squamish Nation, Hollyburn Family Services Society, and Ministry of Children and Family Development. Serves West Vancouver and North Vancouver. Office hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday; after hours, calls are answered by E-Comm.
