Provides non-judgmental support to marginalized women (such as those who have problems with alcohol and/or drugs, or sex trade workers or those exiting the trade) who are at risk of violence and homelessness; also provides support for women who have experienced family violence, sexual assault, or historical abuse. Program is based on harm reduction, meeting immediate needs, and promoting healthy choices. Services include access to groups and services providing referral, advocacy, and accompaniment to police, medical, and legal appointments. Services are offered in the office and in the community. Limited free child minding may be available. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. In partnership with Vancouver Island Mental Health Society (VIMHS) and Nanaimo Affordable Housing Society (NAHS), provides Boundary Crescent housing for individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness (see VIMHS listing for details).
