Service Description

Offers support groups to women staying at Ann Elmore House, Rose Harbour, and to women in the community. Support groups vary in their content in order to address specific issues related to healing and change; child care is available. Healthy Healing group deals with abuse-related topics; offers a safe space for women to connect, learn coping strategies, raise awareness, share information, and strive for a life free from abuse. SMART Recovery groups support women who have chosen to abstain or are considering abstinence from any type of addictive behavior. Also offers short-term one-on-one supportive counselling for relationship issues or recovery from addiction. Funded as a Stopping the Violence (STV) Counselling Program by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG). Outreach services are available to women who are not in a residential program and/or live in isolated communities where their ability to access services is difficult. Services include an on-site outreach worker who provides referrals, and where possible, access to a safe home. They also provide information on violence and abuse, and education on violence prevention/intervention.
