Service Description

Provides nine transitional living units in New Westminster for women ages 19 and over, with a maximum stay of 18 months. Three apartment units are reserved for women released from correctional facilities who are doing community work release. Six units are second-stage housing with priority given to women exiting prison or completing community residential programs (including parole and probation, shelter, or substance use treatment) who also require additional support such as case management and relapse prevention in order to transition to independent community living. Support staff are available on site 24 hours daily; also offers educational, social, and leisure activities at the drop-in centre located in the same building. Women are expected to be fully independent in their self-care and involved in work, volunteer, education, or other daily commitments while participating in this program. Applicants must be stable in their alcohol and drug/mental health recovery for at least six months, and be linked with an alcohol and drug or mental health support team in order to maintain recovery. Referral accepted from self or other. Rent is $400 per month; damage deposit is required. Maximum stay is 18 months.
