Safekeepers Program

Service Description

Offers pet foster care for individuals fleeing interpersonal violence. Provides care up to six months for dogs, cats, rabbits, and small animals. Offers information about ways to include pets in safety planning such as removing abuser from pet's contact information such as vets, microchip, and/or ID collars, as well as having proof of pet ownership. It can take time to find placement in foster care and so victims are encouraged to email or call the support line (ask for the Safekeepers Program) as soon as possible to get the process started. Foster care volunteers are accepted; email for more information. Hours are are 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week.
