Self-Employment Program

Service Description

A self-employment training program with industry experts that teach adults age 18 and older how to run a business; in-person, virtual, and outreach services are offered. Participants are coached to translate business concepts into viable business launches through one-on-one coaching, emails, and a Learning Management System. Training includes business operations, cashflow, business forecasting, accounting principles, marketing, social media, networking, and how to develop and present a business plan. Participants will create and deliver a comprehensive business plan at course completion. Serves residents from Sechelt and Squamish as well as Metro Vancouver, except Langley, Maple Ridge, New Westminster, Pitt Meadows, and Richmond. Registrants must have permanent resident status, be a confirmed refugee, or in Canada under CUAET (Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel). Program runs for 48 weeks; participants must be un- or underemployed and may receive a weekly allowance. Registration is required; online information sessions are available. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by WorkBC Employment Services.
