Seniors and Families Housing Outreach Program
The Seniors and Families Housing Outreach Program provides housing and social services for individuals living on the North Shore who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through assessment, assistance with personal goals and life skills, and connection with housing and services. The Homeless Prevention Program focuses on housing loss prevention by assisting individuals and families at risk of experiencing homelessness due to crisis or transition. Reaching Home serves seniors ages 50 and above experiencing homelessness and provides one-to-one support; assistance filling in applications, landlord mediation, specialized life skills such as budgeting, simple tax preparation, end of life planning; and administers the Canada-British Columbia Housing Benefit for eligible individuals not qualifying for SAFER or Rental Assistance. May provide financial subsidies on a very limited capacity. Supporting Seniors to Remain Housed provides longer term interventions to address seniors with chronic tenancy issues typically due to complex needs which may be related to health, cognitive functioning, isolation, depression, mental health, elder abuse, and financial management. Office hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Funded in part by BC Housing.
