Seniors Support and Advocacy Services
Ladysmith Seniors' Advocacy Office provides free service for adults and seniors ages 55 and up, providing one-to-one service to resolve issues such as health, finances, housing, transportation, safety, legal issues, government correspondence, and abuse. Offers assistance, options, referrals, forms, advocacy, and educational materials. Hours are from 9 am to 3 pm Mondays and Tuesdays. Call to book appointment. Senior Peer Counselling provides free counselling in the areas of relationships, loneliness, stress, lifestyle changes, aging, and relocation. Seniors Coffee Drop-In runs from 10 am to 12 noon Fridays (Early Years Wing, LRCA) and offers tea, coffee, and snacks. Seniors' Income Tax provides year-round assistance with taxes, including previous years' returns, tax credits, and disability applications to singles and couples who qualify dependent on income. Medical Transport Program provides lift-equipped, round-trip transportation for seniors with no other method of getting to medical treatment or appointments in Duncan or Nanaimo. Booking is required.
