Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Program
Provides settlement services for immigrant and refugee students in North Vancouver and West Vancouver attending Kindergarten to Grade 12, and their families. Helps students and families adjust and integrate into community, home, and schools. Services include settlement counselling, information and referral to school and community resources, advocacy, form completion assistance, and educational workshops. Settlement workers serve newcomers in English, but also have cultural and language expertise in Cantonese, English, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, and Ukranian. Accepts school- and self-referrals. Services offered during the school year. North Vancouver office hours are 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. West Vancouver office hours at Hollyburn Elementary School are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
