Service Description

Offers a variety of customized training programs and services to help individuals transition into work or improve their work situation. Offered online and/or in-person, programs assist participants to gain new skills, access career support, connect with employers, and find success in the workplace. Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants helps unemployed and underemployed skilled immigrants find employment that uses their pre-arrival skills, experience, and education. Specific program streams are available for health (newcomers with training and skills as a nurse, physician, sonographer, or health care assistant); and education and social services (newcomers with training and skills as a social service worker, community service worker, university professor, college or vocational instructor, early childhood educator, or ECE teaching assistant. SEED (Sustainable Employment and Environmental Directions) Youth Employment Program provides classroom training and paid work experience placement for unemployed and out of school youth ages 15 to 30 with barriers to employment. Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) provides free English classes based on clients' existing knowledge of the English language. Referral required from Surrey Language Assessment Centre (604-507-4150) or another LINC provider. See website for program eligibility requirements.
