Sylvia's Place

Provides second-stage transitional housing for women (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women) without children who have a mental health diagnosis and/or are fleeing violence. Designed for adult women transitioning toward greater independence and who can safely reside in a single-occupancy unit within a communal house setting. Women must agree to a sober living environment with no substances or alcohol on site, participate in goal setting and life skills programming, be able to self-manage medications, and be independent with daily living tasks. Length of stay is up to 18 months. Fees are calculated based on 30 percent of income or shelter portion amount for those on income assistance or Persons With Disabilities (PWD). No pets allowed. Wheelchair accessible. Initial phone screening hours are generally 8:30 am to 11 pm daily; voicemails are answered promptly in the morning. Funded by BC Housing.
