Transition House Program

Provides safe, secure, temporary shelter and support for women (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women), with or without children, who are leaving violent relationships or are at-risk of abuse, threats, or violence. Accepts male children up to age 19. Gives women a safe and supportive living environment with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, and nutritious meals. Also provides transportation, accompaniment to legal, medical, police, and other appointments, advocacy support, and assists with the development of safety plans. Helps women access financial assistance, legal aid, and affordable housing, and offers resource information to support women exploring their options and defining their goals. Personal identification (ID) is not required. Can accommodate pets on a case by case basis. Wheelchair accessible. A 24-hour Crisis and Support Line offers support to anyone in the community; webchat is available from 10 am to 10 pm daily at safesociety.ca/connect-with-us. Serves Adams Lake, Chase, Enderby, Salmon Arm, Scotch Creek, Sicamous, Sorrento, Enderby, and surrounding communities. Funded by BC Housing.
