Vancouver Shared Independent Living Program
Provides transitional housing support to young adults, ages 19 to 24, of any gender who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness. Offers a private room and shared kitchen, living room, and laundry spaces. Support staff are on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Participants work with a youth housing worker to create a plan based on life skills, employment, education, and transition-planning goals their goals. Must be attending a day program, school, or employment. Maximum stay is two years. Participants must be able to pay rent geared to income (up to 30 percent of monthly income). Referrals can be made directly by Vancouver-based Ministry of Children and Family Services (MCFD) and Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services Society (VACFSS); self-referrals accepted.
