VISAC (Vancouver Incest and Sexual Abuse Centre) - Victim Support Program
Offers support and information to children and youth who have been sexually or physically abused, and to their non-offending family members. Also works with children and youth victims of other power-based crimes including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking and criminal harassment. Can support child and youth witnesses of intimate partner violence and provide information and support to adult survivors of child sexual or physical abuse. Services include information and explanation of the court system, court orientation, accompaniment to court and other interviews, case progress information, crisis intervention and ongoing emotional support, assistance in completing Criminal Victim Assistance (CVAP) forms and Victim Impact statements, and referrals to other services. Services for children and youth are located at the Treehouse Child and Youth Advocacy Hub with police, MCFD, and Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services (VACFS) victim services teams; adult services are located at a separate site. Referral accepted from self (by email), police, MCFD, or community services. Serves Vancouver. Funded primarily by Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG).
