Youth Services - Surrey/White Rock
Provides programs and services for youth and young adults to support community connections, skill building, reaching goals, and obtaining support. One-to-one youth workers provide support, information and resources for youth ages 13 to 18 in the South Surrey and White Rock area. Services are also available to youth ages 11 to 12 by MCFD referral or service request. Youth workers support youth with their unique goals and needs, identifying strengths and interests, and helping them connect to community resources. Youth can receive support in a number of areas including communication, making connections, housing, employment, education, coping and life skills, conflict resolution, mental health, harm reduction, substance use, and basic needs. Services are free, voluntary and confidential. Open referral. Funded by MCFD.
Offers outreach in schools and community to connect youth to housing, employment, education, and mental health support; supplies such as basic necessities, or those for harm reduction, art or school; support with applying for financial assistance; life skills, emotional support, and direct connections to additional resources in the community. Also provides support for youth transitioning into adulthood, youth groups, workshops, access to resources and referrals. Youth Services Navigator (YSN) provides mental health support for youth and young adults ages 13 to 29 and their families, including building bridges and connections to services and providing direct, one-to-one support. Open referral. Funded by Peace Arch Hospital Foundation and RBC. YSN also provides support and services during Vine Youth Clinic in White Rock on Wednesdays from 1 pm to 5pm, by appointment or drop-in; see separate listing under Fraser Health for more information.
Parent-Teen Mediation offers short-term mediation services to youth ages 13 to 18 and their parents/caregivers in South Surrey and White Rock who are experiencing conflict. The program goals are to increase and improve family communication, provide coping skills and problem solving, improve relationships between parents and teens, and connect participants to community resources and additional supports. Referrals accepted from MCFD. Funded by MCFD.
Youth Space provides free drop-in space, activities, resources, out-trips, and volunteer opportunities for youth ages 10 and up in South Surrey and White Rock; see separate listing under Alex House for more information.
