BCAA (BC Automobile Association)

Membership-based organization that provides car, travel, and home insurance, roadside assistance, car repair, and other services across BC. Also provides route planning, travel guides, and trip booking. Service locations are listed online; hours vary. Phone service hours are 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 5 pm Saturdays; call toll-free or dial *222 from a cell phone. Members can also request roadside assistance online. Office hours are 9 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday, and 9 am to 5 pm Saturdays. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments preferred. Nonprofit society.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a conversion of a Canadian driver's licence into a universal driving classification.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a conversion of a Canadian driver's licence into a universal driving classification. It allows a person to drive a vehicle in most foreign countries without further tests or applications. It is proof of possession of a valid driver's licence, though is only valid when used in conjunction with a valid Canadian driver's licence. Two passport-sized photos (available at BCAA) and a completed and signed CAA (Canadian Automobile Association). Fee is $25 for BCAA members and non-members. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. An IDP can be obtained by mail when travelling outside of Canada; see website for details.
