Provided by BCAA (BC Automobile Association)
An International Driving Permit (IDP) is a conversion of a Canadian driver's licence into a universal driving classification.
It allows a person to drive a vehicle in most foreign countries without further tests or applications. It is proof of possession of a valid driver's licence, though is only valid when used in conjunction with a valid Canadian driver's licence. Two passport-sized photos (available at BCAA) and a completed and signed CAA (Canadian Automobile Association). Fee is $25 for BCAA members and non-members. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. An IDP can be obtained by mail when travelling outside of Canada; see website for details.
