  Administers and enforces regulations of Animal Control Bylaw in Sparwood.

  Administers and enforces regulations of Animal Control Bylaw in Sparwood. Issues include barking and noisy dogs, loose and unleashed dogs, neglected or stray dogs, injured dogs, impounded dogs, attacking or aggressive dogs, and dogs kept outside without appropriate shelter. All dogs require a license; licenses can be purchased at the District Municipal Office. Also provides education resources for wildlife management. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.

Outdoor amenities include track and sports fields, trails, playgrounds, water parks, and skateboard parks. Operates the Henry Volkmann Leisure Complex (Leisure Centre), Sparwood Arena, Sparwood Aquatic Centre, Sparwood Fitness Centre, and the Sparwood Curling Club. Offers a wide variety of recreational, social, and cultural programs, for all ages and abilities, including children, youth, families, seniors, and people with disabilities.
