Helps move modest-income families from uncertain rental situations into Habitat homes they can afford and call their own. Gives eligible families a hand up towards their dreams of homeownership and a safe community; families contribute volunteer hours (working alongside volunteers and skilled trades people to build their home, or at the ReStore or other preapproved charities and fundraising events) and purchase the home at fair market value, while agency provides affordable financing. Driven primarily by volunteer labour, monetary donations, and donations of construction materials. Serves Vancouver Island from Boswer to Port Hardy. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
