Funds kidney-related research, provides support and education to individuals living with kidney disease, provides support and education to families living with kidney disease, advocates for access to high-quality health care, and promotes awareness of kidney health and organ donation. Patient services include short-term financial assistance, organ donor expense reimbursement, peer support (one-on-one and group), travel support for home dialysis training, travel loans for hemodialysis treatments outside of Canada (application required through a renal social worker); kidney-related educational materials, and information and referral services. Special programs include a summer camp program for youth and adults affected by kidney disease, and Kidney Suites which offers temporary housing for out-of-town patients. Fundraising initiatives include the Kidney Car which accepts donations of old cars, Kidney Walks throughout BC and Yukon, and galas and dinners. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
