Children and youth explore their feelings, behaviours, values and beliefs, and participate in setting their own goals for treatment. The program supports parents and caregivers to understand their child’s experience, and to promote healthy lifestyle choices within the family. The Independence for Youth Program (IFY) helps at-risk youth ages 16 to 22 make the transition to responsible adulthood through the learning of life skills, whether they are supported by government, family, or self-supporting.
Services include weekly group sessions focusing on independence and responsibility, counselling, advocacy, and one-on-one work as needed. Also includes 10 housing units at Cicada Place, an alcohol-, drug-, and tobacco-free premise, which offers units of independent transitional housing (for six months up to two years); youth must be attending school and/or working, or actively seeking employment. Office hours are generally 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Youth services is funded by Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), and operational funding for Cicada Place is by BC Housing Management Commission.

Building Rewarding Relationships is a seven-week group program for men seeking to improve their relationship skills, confidence and experience. Provides wraparound services that prevent homelessness, including supports as rental supplements, life skills support, case planning and integrated case management, and landlord relationship building.
Assists those living on low incomes and coping with multiple other challenges to find and keep housing. Focuses on preventing homelessness among women (and their children) who have experienced relationship violence or are at-risk; youth, including those leaving government care; adults leaving institutional care (such as hospitals, corrections, and treatment centres); and people of Aboriginal descent. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Provides outreach to individuals age 19 and older who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or difficult to house; youth age 18 and younger may also be eligible.
Outreach workers meet with individuals on the street to determine housing needs, and provide referrals to services to meet immediate needs such as emergency shelter, food, and clothing. Also provides help with obtaining identification and income assistance. Connects individuals to housing options by providing support with the application, move-in process, appointments and/or housing viewings, and liaison with landlords; rent subsidies may be available. Provides links to culturally appropriate services, as well as referrals to other support services such as health care, counselling, and addiction recovery, as well as follow-up and ongoing support once housed. Serves Nelson. Hours vary. Funded by BC Housing.

Provides employment preparation services to women and men who have experienced multiple barriers to employment, identify as Aboriginal, live with disabilities, have immigrated to Canada, are eligible for the Single Parent Employment Initiative (SPEI), or who are survivors of violence and trauma.
Offers group-based personal development activities, individual reflection, career assessments, and community presenters. Participants identify strengths, build self-confidence, develop job-ready skills, and acquire the necessary techniques for an effective job search. The women’s program, Women INC, runs a series of four half-day workshops, twice per year. The men’s program, Doorways: Trauma-Informed Pre-Employment Program for Men, runs a series of four half-day workshops, twice per year. Programs are free of charge and offer childcare and transportation subsidies.
