  Assists seniors ages 55 and older who are in general good health, but require help with non-medical daily tasks to maintain independent living within their homes and remain connected to their communities as long as possible.

  Assists seniors ages 55 and older who are in general good health, but require help with non-medical daily tasks to maintain independent living within their homes and remain connected to their communities as long as possible. Services include grocery shopping, light housekeeping and yard work, minor home maintenance, group excursions, and friendly visits. Also provides transportation to and from appointments, and social and recreational activities when volunteers available; advance notice is required, particularly for an off-island trip. Van excursion outings take small groups to places and events on and off island. Fees are charged for some services on a sliding scale (based on income). Also provides free peer counselling by trained senior volunteers. Office hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Ministry of Health (MOH) and managed by United Way British Columbia (UWBC).

  Provides services to children and youth ages five to 19 with depression, anxiety, family conflict, unmanageable behaviour, and/or other mental health concerns presented in the home, classroom, or community.

  Provides services to children and youth ages five to 19 with depression, anxiety, family conflict, unmanageable behaviour, and/or other mental health concerns presented in the home, classroom, or community. Services include assessment, counselling, case planning, and specialized clinical interventions and follow up in-office or on an outreach basis. Child and youth clinicians work closely and consult with child and adolsecent psychiatry, community partners, and families as requested and with appropriate consent. Also provides counselling to family members affected by mental health issues of their child or teen; and consultation on mental health issues for others working with children and youth. Referrals are accepted from Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), physicians, schools, or community agencies, and self-referrals; intake forms available online. Services provided at The Core (134 McPhillips Avenue) and Family Place (120 Park Drive). Hours vary. Telephone consultation and counselling is available by appointment for Mayne, Saturna, Galiano, and Pender Islands.

  Provides resources, information, and parent education opportunities to support parents and caregivers of children up to age six. Island Infants Circle is a drop-in for parents who are prenatal or have babies up to one year old to listen to guest facilitators on infant wellness topics; offered from 11 am to 1 pm Mondays. Dad and Me Pancake Breakfast is an opportunity for dads, grandpas, and uncles to enjoy a free pancake breakfast and playtime with their kids; offered from 8:30 am to 10:30 am Sundays. Stay and Play Drop-In is a parent-child program for families with children up to age six to enjoy a bowl of soup, a snack, playtime, and access information and referrals to community resources; offered from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Parent-Child Mother Goose is a program for parents and their babies and young children to use rhymes, songs, and stories to promote healthy development for babies, skills development for parents, and a strong parent-child bond. All programs are free and offered at various times throughout the year; see website for current schedule. Also offers a clothing exchange, access to laundry machines, a toy library, and a parent book lending library.

  Provides assistance for low-income families and seniors to shop at their local farmer's market. Coupons can be spent at all farmers' market booths to purchase fresh produce, cut herbs, meat, eggs, and cheese. The purpose of the program is to increase home cooking and healthier food choices, so no preserves, breads, plants, honey, or flowers. Applications forms are available online; applicants are chosen by lottery. Initiative of BC Association of Farmers’ Markets in partnership with Salt Spring Island Tuesday Farmers' Market.

  Provides assistance to low-income individuals and families who are dealing with food scarcity. Weekly food distribution takes place from 9:30 am to 3:45 pm Tuesdays. Registration can be done online or in-person; photo identification (ID) is required at first visit, along with verification of family size and composition. Hamper delivery is available upon approval for seniors or those with a disability that impairs mobility. Families with young children may arrange for food box pick up at Family Place (120 Park Drive; listed separately) as an opportunity to access other services and supports. Also distributes Holiday Hampers to individuals and families in need the week before Christmas; registration opens during the month of November.

Brings victims and community members together with offenders referred pre- or post-charge so they can be held accountable without being legally convicted. Referrals are made primarily though RCMP. In partnership with ASK Salt Spring, hosts monthly Restorative Community Practice Circles to support respectful, structured conversations on shared community themes; held from 11 am to 1 pm on the second Friday of the month. Also engages in public education and outreach to increase awareness of restorative justice in the community. Serves Salt Spring Island. Program hours vary.

Shelter operates 24-hours per day, seven days per week. Provides guests with three meals per day and access to showers and laundry. Public may also access showers from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm Tuesdays, on a first-come, first-served, basis; sign-up available. Pets are allowed and housed in a heated kennel area onsite. Not wheelchair accessible. Also operates an extreme weather response shelter between October 15th and April 15th when weather is extreme.
