Thuy Na Mut Substance Use Program (Helping House) provides a 40-day residential program for Aboriginal people ages 19 and older who are ready to deal with their substance use. Program is holistic in nature, and includes individual and group treatment experiences that promote healthy lifestyle choices, healing of past issues, learning new skills for effective living, life planning, and cultural identity and appreciation. Integrates modern therapeutic techniques with traditional teachings. Program requires two week sobriety prior to set intake date; cannot accommodate individuals on opioid agonist replacement therapy. Referrals are accepted from a substance use treatment counsellor, a band social worker, a clinical counsellor, a therapist, or a psychologist. Office hours are 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Telephone Support Line for individuals needing support or in crisis is answered 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday; 10 am to 2 pm Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Funded by the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) as a National Native Alcohol and Abuse Program (NNADAP) and Vancouver Island Health Authority. Nonprofit society.
