Civil Forfeiture Office

Operates under the supervision of the director of civil forfeiture to commence legal proceedings against property (houses, land, or personal property) linked to unlawful activity. Receives information from law enforcement agencies and commences and manages legal proceedings according to policies and the Civil Forfeiture Act. Money from forfeiture is re-invested in BC communities in the form of crime prevention grants and compensation to eligible victims. Anyone who contests allegations of unlawful activity has the right to examine the director's evidence and provide their own evidence before a justice of the Supreme Court of BC. An individual may file a Notice of Dispute with the Civil Forfeiture Office within the dispute period by following these steps. Office hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
