Service Description

Provides trauma-informed and culturally safe crisis support to survivors of all ages and genders of a recent sexual assault. Services include counselling, emotional support, outreach, hospital accompaniment, transportation, service coordination, and follow-up. Provides safety and wellness planning. Also provides victim services to any survivors of sexual violence, both recent and historical.

Offers a 24/7 Crisis Line whose primary function is to support survivors of recent sexual assault (within the last 7 days). The SAS Coordinator will be dispatched to the hospital upon the survivor's request. The Crisis Line also functions as a resource to call and ask questions about sexual assault, options that survivors have, and to receive support in emotional crisis. Also offers third party reporting to adult victims of sexual assault; staff report the assault to police on behalf of the victim who remains anonymous. Serves Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, and rural areas, including Denman Island, and Hornby Island. Service hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
