Service Description
Provides services to British Columbians who are going through a separation or divorce. Family justice counsellors are accredited family mediators who provide dispute resolution services to help families resolve disagreements about parenting arrangements, contact with a child, guardianship, and support issues, without going to court. Services include information, short-term counselling, mediation, and referrals to community services. Also offers Children in Mediation interviews, providing a forum for children to share their views and an opportunity for parents to hear and consider the information from their children. Service is free and confidential. Serves Cranbrook, Creston, Elkford, Fernie, Golden, Invermere, Kimberley, and Sparwood. Hours are 9 am to 6:20 pm MST/MDT (after 4:30 pm by appointment only) Mondays, 8 am to 5:20 pm MST/MDT Tuesday to Thursday, and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm PST/PDT Friday. In-person services are available Tuesday to Thursday, virtual services are available during all business hours. Hours subject to change. Clients without an appointment are advised to phone ahead before dropping in.
