All services are confidential and provided free of charge to parents and other family members. Staff can help assess needs and provide information about legal and related issues (including referrals for legal advice); dispute resolution and mediation options (including court forms and processes); and referrals to community resources and agencies. All Centres have Family Justice Counsellors (accredited mediators) who can provide a full range of services virtually through video conferencing and telephone, if required.
The Centre operates a Self-Help Resource Room in the Prince George Courthouse (3rd Floor, 250 George Street) with staff to assist with family law issues relating to separation and divorce. Staff can help assess needs, provide information about legal and related issues, and refer patrons to services and resources that are available for their situation, including legal information for family law issues, dispute resolution and mediation options, staffed self-help resource rooms and information services, public computer terminals, a printer for legal documents, and referral to community resources and agencies. Open Tuesday to Thursday 9 am to 4 pm (closed from noon to 1 pm).
Serves Burns Lake, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Fort St James, Fort St John, Hixon, Hudson's Hope, Kelly Lake, Mackenzie, McBride, Pouce Coupe, Prince George, Quesnel, Taylor, Toms Lake, Tumbler Ridge, Valemount, and Vanderhoof. Hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday. In-person services are available Tuesday to Thursday, virtual services are available during all business hours. Hours subject to change. Clients without an appointment are advised to phone ahead before dropping in.
