Staff can help assess needs, provide information about legal and related issues and refer individuals to services and resources that are available for their situation, including: self-help and information services; dispute resolution and mediation options; limited legal advice provided by onsite partners (Legal Aid BC); and community resources and agencies.

  There is a Self-Help Resource Room (SHRR) where anyone can access information or receive one-on-one assistance on family law issues, including information on legal issues, services, and court and non-court dispute resolution options. Staff can explain court procedures and provide access to court documents for those representing themselves in family-related legal proceedings. Provides a wide range of information and resources to serve patrons at any stage in their situation; services include Justice Interviewers who can provide legal information assistance with court documents; computers for research, accessing court forms and completing Parenting After Separation courses; family law reference materials; printers and photocopiers. Justice Access Centres do not deal with criminal issues or small claims court forms or filings.

  Serves Abbotsford, east Langley (Aldergrove), Maple Ridge, Mission and the Fraser Valley. Hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday. In-person and virtual services available during all business hours. The Self-Help Resource Room is open 9 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Hours subject to change. The Chief Judge has the power to designate the case or matter, or class of cases or matters, in which a judge or justice is to act; designate the court facility where a judge or justice is to act; assign a judge or justice to the duties the Chief Judge considers advisable; and exercise the other powers and perform other duties prescribed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

  The Chief Judge also has the power to look into complaints about the conduct of a Provincial Court judge, judicial justice, judicial case manager, or justice of the peace. Complaints can be received using the online complaint form or by letter that can be faxed or mailed to the Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of British Columbia. This process cannot be used to complain about judges of the BC Supreme Court or the Court of Appeal. It also cannot be used to complain about a decision in a particular case.

  A free service that helps families with child support orders and written agreements maintain a fair standard of support for their children by reviewing the amount of child support each year.

  A free service that helps families with child support orders and written agreements maintain a fair standard of support for their children by reviewing the amount of child support each year. The recalculation service adjusts the amount of child support if income has gone up or down so that parents do not have to return to court to have their child support amounts reviewed. Parents can enroll to have child support payments automatically recalculated annually so that they do not have to return to court to have them reviewed. Both parents must be BC residents and there must be an existing order or written agreement for child support from the Province of BC. Whether the child support recipient or payor enrolls, the other parent is also enrolled. To apply for enrollment, use the online portal or submit an application form by mail. After enrollment is confirmed, the recalculation process can take up to four months.

Addresses disputes between owners of strata properties and strata corporations, for matters including non-payment of fines or fees, financial responsibility for repairs, meetings and voting, and bylaws, legislation, and regulations. Also addresses small claims issues related to buying and selling goods and services, loans and debts, construction and renovations, employment, insurance, personal injury, and property. Provides legal information, self-help tools, and dispute resolution services. If the people involved in the dispute cannot agree on a resolution, an independent CRT member will decide on an outcome, which can be enforced like a court order. Services are provided for a fee. Employs a therapeutic or problem-solving model to sentencing offenders who plead guilty to domestic violence offences, in which service providers attend court to provide services for both victims and offenders. Corresponding information is offered to the judge to make sentencing more effective. Problem-solving courts try to help people with the underlying problems contributing to their criminal behaviour, but still hold them accountable. Police submit files to a designated Crown prosecutor within two weeks of responding to a domestic violence complaint. Corresponding information is offered to the judge to make sentencing more effective. The prosecutor contacts complainants immediately and refers them to helpful services. If children are involved, the prosecutor also liaises with Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). And, in high-risk cases, an Inter-Agency Case Assessment Team meets to discuss a safety plan. During the two-week processing period, families are linked to therapeutic services. Accepts calls from victims and others who are calling on their behalf. Services provided to victims and survivors include emotional support, stabilization, and safety planning; information about options for reporting to police and support doing so; acting as a centralized liaison/point of contact with the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT); assistance in making an application to the CRT and support throughout the CRT processes; and assistance with communicating protection orders issued by the CRT. Intimate image protection order claims can be made against individuals or websites such as social media platforms. Minors ages 14 and older can bring claims to CRT on their own or with the help of a trusted adult, minors ages 12 and 13 must make claims with the help of a trusted adult. The CRT can award damages of up to $5000. Incidents must have occurred after March 6th 2023 and typically within two years to be eligible for a claim, but IIPS will provide information to anyone calling.   The Kelowna Family Justice Centre provides services that are part of the Provincial Court process (under the Provincial Court Family Rules). The Kelowna Provincial Family Court registry is a Family Justice Registry where most parties to family law matters must complete a needs assessment with a family justice counsellor and a parenting education course before their first court date (a Family Management Conference) will be scheduled.

  The Kelowna Family Justice Centre can be contacted directly to schedule a family needs assessment and get information on how to complete a parenting education program in order to fulfill the Family Justice Registry requirement of the Kelowna Provincial Court for all family law matters filed there.

  Serves Beaverdell, Kelowna, Peachland, West Kelowna, and Winfield. Virtual hours are 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Friday.   Community Court focused on offending clients struggling with substance use issues, mental health issues or cognitive impairments, including brain injuries, or homelessness and engaging in criminal behaviour.

  Community Court focused on offending clients struggling with substance use issues, mental health issues or cognitive impairments, including brain injuries, or homelessness and engaging in criminal behaviour. Seeks to reduce crime and improve public safety by integrating health and social services with the justice system in order to address the root causes of offending behaviour. This is not a trial court but eligible people may have bail hearings or plead guilty and be sentenced here. Agencies with knowledge of an offending client meet with Integrated Court Crown and defence lawyers and a probation officer before court to share information about the individual's needs and the resources available to address them. The lawyers present this information in submissions at a sentencing hearing to help the judge impose a responsive, timely, and focused sentence. A variety of government and community organizations offering mental health and other services provide support and supervision for clients bound by bail or sentencing orders, helping them lead healthier, more stable lives.

The Port Coquitlam Family Justice Centre can be contacted directly to get more information about family needs assessments, consensual dispute resolution and how to complete a parenting education program in order to fulfill the Early Resolution Registry requirement of the Port Coquitlam Provincial Court for all family law matters filed there effective November 2024.

Consults on complex risk situations involving abuse, neglect or self-neglect of vulnerable adults. Reports of suspected adult abuse or neglect can be made to the Public Guardian in the case of financial abuse. Other situations of suspected abuse or neglect (non-financial abuse) should be reported to the Designated Agency Responders. In BC the designated responders are the five regional health authorities, Providence Health Care, and for adults with a developmental disability, Community Living BC; see independent listings. Services to Adults upholds the rights of adults who are unable to manage their own affairs by providing health care, financial management, and personal planning and decision-making. Estate and Personal Trust Services settles the estates of deceased or missing persons when there is no named executor, or when there is no one willing or able to act as executor. This includes securing assets, settling debts and claims against the estate, and identifying and locating heirs and beneficiaries.   Community Court focused on offending clients struggling with substance use issues, mental health issues or cognitive impairments, including brain injuries, or homelessness and engaging in criminal behaviour. Seeks to reduce crime and improve public safety by integrating health and social services with the justice system in order to address the root causes of offending behaviour. This is not a trial court but eligible people may have bail hearings or plead guilty and be sentenced here. Agencies with knowledge of an offending client meet with Integrated Court Crown and defence lawyers and a probation officer before court to share information about the individual’s needs and the resources available to address them. The lawyers present this information in submissions at a sentencing hearing to help the judge impose a responsive, timely, and focused sentence. A variety of government and community organizations offering mental health and other services provide support and supervision for clients bound by bail or sentencing orders, helping them lead healthier, more stable lives.

  Provides access to justice interviewers, child support officers and family justice counsellors who can help with separation and divorce issues; guardianship, parenting arrangements and contact with a child; child and spousal support; ownership of companion animals; parenting after separation; resolving family disputes (including court and non-court processes); and protection orders for family violence. All services are confidential and provided free of charge to parents and other family members.

  Staff can help assess needs, provide information about legal and related issues and provide referrals to services and resources that are available for individual situations, including self-help and information services; dispute resolution and mediation options; limited legal advice provided by onsite partners (Legal Aid BC); and community resources and agencies. There is a Self-Help Resource Room (SHRR) where anyone can access information or receive one-on-one assistance from staff; this help focuses on family law issues, and includes information on legal issues, services, and court and non-court dispute resolution options. Staff can explain court procedures and provide access to court documents for those representing themselves in family-related legal proceedings. Provides a wide range of information and resources to serve patrons at any stage in their situation; services include justice interviewers who can provide legal information assistance with court documents; computers for research, accessing court forms and completing parenting after separation courses; family law reference materials; printers and photocopiers.

  Justice Access Centres do not deal with criminal issues or small claims court forms or filings. The Victoria Justice Access Centre provides services that are part of the Provincial Court process (under the Provincial Court Family Rules). The Victoria Provincial Family Court registry is an Early Resolution Registry where most parties to family law matters must complete a needs assessment with a family justice counsellor, a parenting education course, and a consensual dispute resolution session, if appropriate, before filing an application about a family law matter. The Victoria Justice Access Centre can be contacted directly to schedule a family needs assessment and get information on consensual dispute resolution and how to complete a parenting education program in order to fulfill the Early Resolution Registry requirement of the Victoria Provincial Court for all family law matters filed there.

  Serves Victoria and surrounding south Vancouver Island and Gulf Island communities, as well as Mill Bay and Shawnigan Lake. Hours are 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday for in person and virtual services. Virtual services after 5:30 pm may be available by appointment only, please contact the JAC for details. The Self-Help Resource Room is open 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Hours subject to change. Clients without an appointment are advised to phone ahead before dropping in.
