Community court focused on offending clients facing homelessness, poverty, mental health, and/or substance use issues in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Takes a problem-solving approach to address offender's needs and circumstances, and the underlying causes of their criminal behaviour. The court deals with offenders more quickly through a coordinated and informed response which benefits offenders, victims, and the community. Works with health and social services, community organizations, area residents, merchants, faith communities, nonprofit organizations, and schools. The courthouse is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday; court hours are 9 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 3 pm Monday to Friday.
