Mental Health and Substance Use Services - Kamloops

Provides a range of health care and support services for adults with mental health and/or substance use issues. Services include assessment, treatment, counselling, education, and referral to community resources. Also provides counselling to individuals who are concerned about someone else’s substance use. In addition, provides access to other specialty substance use and mental health services. The Integrated Treatment Team (ITT) offers adult substance use treatment that is discrete, based on client needs, and flexible to accommodate individuals who have been unable to attend traditional inpatient or outpatient treatment programs in the past due to work schedules, lack of transportation, child care demands, or other reasons; services include virtual and in-person individual and group counselling, medication, support in development personal treatment goals, overdose prevention and harm reduction services and supports, self-management support, and support from trained peers. Outpatient Withdrawal Management Services provide planned withdrawal and substance use stabilization services in the home and community under the supervision of a team of care practitioners. Crisis Response Team responds to mental health and substance use crises within the community and at the hospital to provide intervention, assessment, and referrals to resources. Also provides a Seniors Mental Health Program which includes counselling, psychiatric support, and case management for seniors, and support for caregivers. Referral accepted from self and other. Call for booked appointment; walk-ins welcome. Hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Wednesday and Fridays, 8:30 am to 8 pm on Thursdays.

Provides harm reduction supplies, including safer injection, safer smoking, and safer sex supplies along with harm reduction education and referrals to health services, addictions services, and other social supports. Offers safe disposal of needles and other injection supplies. Also provides opioid users with free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) that can be used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids like fentanyl, heroin, methadone, morphine, and oxycodone.
