Service Description

Provides temporary safe shelter and support for women age 19 and over (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women) with or without children, who are escaping violent relationships or who are at risk of abuse, threats, or violence. Accepts male children up to age 18. Accepts refugees and refugee claimants, as well as women from out of the province. Length of stay is 30 days with possible extensions. High-barrier house; a safe and supportive living environment for women with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, and nutritious meals. Also provides advocacy support; assists clients in accessing financial assistance, legal aid, and affordable housing. Offers resource information to enable women to explore their options and define their goals, as well as assists with the development of safety plans. Personal identification is required. Wheelchair accessible. Cannot accommodate pets, but will arrange for fostering with a community partner. Priority is given to women with Canadian status; open to others if space allows.
