Omineca Safe House

Safe house for women (with or without children) fleeing violence of any kind. Accepts transgender women. Male children are allowed up to age 18. Offers crisis counselling; assistance in accessing medical, legal, financial, and social aid; and education on the dynamics of family violence and alternatives. Personal identification (ID) is not required to access the house. Staffed 24-hours. Low-barrier, with no drug or alcohol use allowed on the property. Accepts individuals on substitution therapy.  Wheelchair accessible; main floor bathroom has a tub. Can accommodate one pet in outside kennel. Serves Burns Lake, Fort Fraser, Fort St James, Fraser Lake, Vanderhoof, and surrounding communities. Funded by BC Housing.
