Offers one-time rental assistance in the form of an interest-free loan for low to moderate income individuals or families who are at risk of losing their rentals due to unexpected decrease in income or a sudden expense. Funds are paid directly to the landlord or utility company and can be used for rental or utility payments (arrears or current), security/pet deposits, and/or first month's rent. Applicants must be 19 years of age or over; be a resident of Richmond, Ladner, or Tsawwassen; and owe less than $3,500. The program determines eligibility based on the nature of the financial crisis as well as the ability to repay the loan; loan assistance is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Also assists clients in connecting to relevant resources such as financial literacy tools, assistance with landlord mediation, and tenant-specific resources.
