Safe Home Response Service
Provides a 24-hour network of temporary emergency shelter for self-identified women, with or without children, who are leaving violence in relationships; stay is typically for three to five days. Accepts male children up to age 19, although older dependent males with disabilities may be accepted. Serves women residing in Avola, Barriere, Birch Island, Blackpool, Blue River, Clearwater, Darfield, Little Fort, Louis Creek, McLure, and Vavenby. If a woman has mobility issues, a wheelchair accessible hotel room may be provided. Pets may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Funded by BC Housing.
