Offers several food security initiatives and programs in Clearwater.
The Soup Kettle offers homemade soup and buns to the public from 12 noon to 1 pm Fridays from October to April; welcomes donations. Soup is available on-site, to take away, or by delivery; call before 11 am on Fridays to request delivery. The Nutrition Coupon Program provides food coupons to low-income families and seniors that can be spent at participating BC farmers' markets to purchase fruits, vegetables, cheeses, eggs, nuts, fish, and meat. Christmas Good Food Boxes provide nutritious food hampers and grocery cards for low-income households. Food Skills for Families offers a six-session course for people at risk that teaches them how to make healthy meals and smart food choices, and gain confidence in the kitchen. The Lending Cupboard is a free lending library of food preservation equipment and supplies; also welcomes donations of such equipment. Neighbourhood Kitchens offer the opportunity to learn to cook healthy meals from scratch, obtain recipes, meet new people, and take home prepared food to enjoy. It also teaches cooking foods in season and food preservation. Nominal fee, but subsidies are available. A Community Garden provides bed plots of soil for community members to grow food for their household. The Gleaning Program reduces food waste and helps feed the community; volunteer gleaning crews pick unwanted fruit or vegetables and split the pickings between volunteers and charitable food programs. The Community Composting Program provides composting units for the community garden and surrounding community to use for green waste disposal; registered users receive free kitchen collection pails and a share of the finished compost for their own use if they wish. The North Thompson Community Seed Library collects and stores seeds and shares them with members of the community. Office hours are 8:30 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 4:30 pm on Fridays.

Individuals must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, have refugee status (protected persons or convention refugee), or be in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET). Online services include career exploration and labour market information, job search resources, webinars, and self-assessment tools. Offers job search workshops, essential skills training for employment readiness, short-term training to meet minimum entry requirements or develop specific skills for a job or an industry, and self-employment services. Also offers case management and one-to-one employment planning services to individuals needing more guidance and support, and delivers skills training programs to prepare vulnerable British Columbians for entry, or return to, sustainable employment. May provide supplemental services such as customized job placement and work experience placement, as well as specialized employment and training programs for clients with significant barriers to employment, including for youth, individuals with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, and refugee claimants, people recovering from substance use or mental health issues, and women fleeing family violence, survivors of violence and/or abuse, sexual assault, or with histories of abuse or trauma; programs may be delivered in partnership with community agencies. Provides support to help job seekers who are unemployed or precariously employed and legally allowed to work in BC, find and maintain employment and improve employment readiness.
Individuals must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, have refugee status (protected persons or convention refugee), or be in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET). Online services include career exploration and labour market information, job search resources, webinars, and self-assessment tools. Offers job search workshops, essential skills training for employment readiness, short-term training to meet minimum entry requirements or develop specific skills for a job or an industry, and self-employment services. Also offers case management and one-to-one employment planning services to individuals needing more guidance and support, and delivers skills training programs to prepare vulnerable British Columbians for entry, or return to, sustainable employment. May provide supplemental services such as customized job placement and work experience placement, as well as specialized employment and training programs for clients with significant barriers to employment, including for youth, individuals with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, and refugee claimants, people recovering from substance use or mental health issues, and women fleeing family violence, survivors of violence and/or abuse, sexual assault, or with histories of abuse or trauma; programs may be delivered in partnership with community agencies. For eligible individuals, also provides wage subsidy services, financial support for apprenticeships, and financial assistance for dependent care, transportation to job interviews, and tools. Self-serve resource area, open to any person in BC, provides career and job search resources, job postings, career-related books and labour market information, and access to computers, internet, phone, photocopiers, and scanners. Services are free of charge. Referral accepted from self or other. Registration is online or in-person. In-person hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, 10 am to 4:30 pm Wednesdays, and 8:30 am to 6 pm Thursdays. Sees patients with addictions and mental health concerns supported by other YCS services. Serves Clearwater and surrounding area.
