Specialized Victim Support Services (SVSS)

Provides support to people of all ages and genders who are victims of gender-based violence, power and control, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, all forms of relationship violence, elder abuse, sexual assault (child, youth, adult and historical), and child abuse. The program provides emotional and practical support; general and justice-related information, including the legal system, court preparation and orientation; support in completing Victim Impact Statements (VIS) and Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) applications; referrals to other supportive community programs; and help in creating a safety plan. Serves the Powell River area, including Savary Island, Texada Island, Lund, and Westview. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funding provided by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG).
