Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA)

Provides services and information to enhance the quality of life in Ladysmith and surrounding community. Volunteer Income Tax Program provides assistance completing income tax forms; available to seniors receiving the guaranteed income supplement and to those of any age whose income does not exceed $40,000 (singles) or $55,000 (couples). Tax clients must also be society members. Also operates BC Housing-funded subsidized units for seniors, singles, couples, families, and persons with disabilities; intake is through BC Housing Registry. Also runs the Ladysmith RCMP Victim Services Program, listed under RCMP. Office hours are 9 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society, registered charity.

Offers voluntary, referral-based support to children and youth ages six to 18 and their families or caregivers, addressing various challenges in home, school, peer interactions, and the community.

Offers voluntary, referral-based support to children and youth ages six to 18 and their families or caregivers, addressing various challenges in home, school, peer interactions, and the community. Support workers create a safe environment for expression, foster emotional resilience, teach life skills and coping strategies, and address safety, behavioural, mental health, substance use, bullying, relationship, parenting, and in-school issues. Priority is given to families involved with Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) with tailored, intensive outreach and prevention/intervention. Support workers collaborate with other professionals with consent. The program aims to empower clients, reduce family breakdowns, and connect them with additional resources. Youth group opportunities are also provided. Referrals are screened and may also be accepted from Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH), Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN), Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) Discovery Workers, or local Ladysmith schools. Self referral also accepted from youth ages 12 and up and family members. Offers flexible hours, Monday to Friday, to accommodate families' needs.

A 24-hour, temporary low-barrier emergency shelter provides 10 beds for homeless individuals of any gender; access is through the rear entrance.

A 24-hour, temporary low-barrier emergency shelter provides 10 beds for homeless individuals of any gender; access is through the rear entrance. Offers a hot evening meal from 7 pm to 8 pm, breakfast from 7 am to 8 am, snack bags from 9 am to 3 pm, and shower and laundry facilities from 10 am to 3 pm. Access to a phone, donated clothing, and harm reduction supplies are also available. Services and meals are available to anyone regardless of whether they stay the night. Shelter beds are available to be reserved until 9 pm the following day. Shelter is not wheelchair accessible. No pets allowed. No storage for bikes, though they can be locked. Totes are available for personal belongings. During Extreme Weather Response (EWR) alerts, provides five overflow mats. Funded by BC Housing.

Ladysmith Seniors' Advocacy Office provides free service for adults and seniors ages 55 and up, providing one-to-one service to resolve issues such as health, finances, housing, transportation, safety, legal issues, government correspondence, and abuse.

Offers assistance, options, referrals, forms, advocacy, and educational materials. Hours are from 9 am to 3 pm Mondays and Tuesdays. Call to book appointment. Senior Peer Counselling provides free counselling in the areas of relationships, loneliness, stress, lifestyle changes, aging, and relocation. Seniors Coffee Drop-In runs from 10 am to 12 noon Fridays (Early Years Wing, LRCA) and offers tea, coffee, and snacks.
