Tailored small group exercise training for individuals with ongoing chronic health conditions.
Provides a safe and supportive environment to enhance physical and mental health for members. Works to improve quality of life, encourage self-management, maintain and/or improve physical abilities, boost self-esteem, reduce overall fatigue and improve sleep quality as well as provide peer-support. Choose to Move is a three-month choice-based wellness program to help individuals age 65 and older break down barriers to physical inactivity. Breathe Fit focuses on cardiovascular and muscular strengthening for people living with/recovering from heart and lung conditions. Restore-Evolve-Change (R.E.C) Fit is a fitness program for cancer survivors to become stronger, breathe better, reduce body-mind fatigue, and improve mental health. Fit for Bones focuses on exercises for individuals looking to reduce risks of falls and fractures, and improve joint functions, bone density and balance. Renew Fit focuses on improving stability, coordination, stamina, and functional strength for individuals living with and/or predisposed to diabetes, high blood pressure, and/or diagnosed overweight/obese by their physician. Heart Wise Small Group Exercise Classes offers various programs for Y members who may be living with a chronic health condition to come together and explore different fitness classes through shared experiences. Intake assessment is done for applicants prior to any program acceptance. Free for classic and premium members. Membership assistance is available for members in need. Programs are offered in collaboration with BC Cancer Society, MS Society, and the University of Ottawa’s Heart Wise Initiative. Program hours vary. Office hours are 5:30 am to 10 pm Monday to Friday and 7 am to 9 pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Also includes childminding, child and parent drop-ins, games and creative play, fitness leadership training, babysitter training, safety skills workshops for children and teens, and other specialized programming for all ages. Membership required to access most programs and activities; see website for details. Facility hours are 6 am to 7:45 pm Monday to Friday and 7:30 am to 1 pm Saturdays and Sundays; closed on statutory holidays. Registration hours are 8:30 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday.

Y Mind Teen is a free seven-week support group for youth ages 13 to 18 who experience anxiety.
Y Mind Youth focuses on young adults ages 18 to 30. Participants learn coping skills and connect with other youth in the community, and program includes mindfulness techniques, educational workshops about anxiety, and other mental health-related topics. Youth get a free YMCA gym membership for the duration of the program to encourage physical activity as a stress management tool.

Transitional housing program provides safe and affordable housing to eight youth ages 15 to 19 who may be experiencing social isolation, poverty, substance use, or trauma.
Community-oriented environment, with each youth having their own bachelor unit. Supports youth to strive for and attain their educational, employment, and wellness goals through counselling, advocacy, life skills training, nutrition and cooking groups, and fitness. One unit is wheelchair friendly. Maximum stay is 18 months.

Provides outdoor education experiences that support healthy growth and development of young people.
Camp Thunderbird programs include day programs, summer day camps for children and youth, and overnight camps for children, youth, and families. Fees are charged; families whose financial circumstances make them unable to pay the full fee for their child’s summer camp or outdoor education program are eligible for financial assistance. Day and overnight programs are also available for groups for a fee; groups attending outdoor education programs in the spring and fall may apply for funding for their group/class or for specific participants with a financial need. Registration hours are 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday, and 8 am to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Housing program provides safe, stable, and affordable housing for eight women ages 16 to 29 who are parenting a child under the age of five.
Each family has their own suite, and participates in a community space. Support services for residents include life skills training, parenting education, advocacy, individualized and group counselling, accompaniment to appointments, resource referrals, and activity groups for children and youth. Offers free drop-ins which include a healthy breakfast, playroom, and parent and child craft project from 10 am to 12 noon Thursdays; open to resident moms and the community. Maximum stay is 12 months. Serves Victoria.
