  Assists the general public in finding an appropriate lawyer for their particular situation.

  Assists the general public in finding an appropriate lawyer for their particular situation. Callers can access lawyers who offer a free fifteen minute consultation to decide whether the issue is worth pursuing legally. The consultation may or may not include legal advice at the lawyer's own discretion. If the lawyer is hired, standard rates apply thereafter. There is no obligation for the lawyer to accept the applicant's case or for the applicant to retain the lawyer. To receive a referral, individuals should call during office hours; $25 booking fee applies for household incomes over $100,000, booking fee also applies to all individuals booking through the website. Hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by the Law Foundation of BC.

  Provides province-wide free legal representation services for particular case types to low and modest income individuals. Offers services in the areas of civil, criminal, and administrative law, family law, court of appeal, refugee sponsorship, and will and estates. Also provides specific pro bono legal services to charitable and non-profit community organizations of limited means; services include incorporation and by-laws, registration for charitable status, employment matters, contracts and lease agreements. All cases are subject to a merit assessment to determine eligibility. Program relies on volunteer lawyers; therefore, assistance cannot always be guaranteed.

Addresses a full range of legal issues, including family, immigration, criminal, and civil law (such as debt, employment, welfare and housing matters). The Summary Advice Program cannot assist with emergency issues and does not provide services such as representation, notarization, and drafting. To book an appointment, email or contact the client line from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday or fill out the online triage form (https://www.accessprobono.ca/get-legal-help); appointments are booked two to four weeks in advance when available.

  Provides free online family mediation and advice services to low-and modest-income families. Clients have access to an independent legal advice lawyer and a mediator. Offers collaborative approach to coming to agreement on property division, debt division, parenting arrangements, child support, and spousal support. Both parties must agree to mediation, and at least one party must meet pro bono eligibility criteria. Self referral or referral from Family Justice Services or other source accepted. Email to receive an application form. All meetings take place over the phone or video conferencing software.
