  Provides refugee claimants who have arrived in the lower mainland area with temporary short-term support, including access to vital emergency services and safe shelter.

Accommodation is available for up to three days. Offers transportation from the border point of entry to accommodation. Applications must be submitted within 48 hours of arrival; support is provided within 72 hours of submitting an application. Service can be accessed through a multilingual phone line, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  Lends a variety of health equipment to eligible individuals experiencing illness, injury, or mobility issues.

  Lends a variety of health equipment to eligible individuals experiencing illness, injury, or mobility issues. The Basic Short Term Loan Program provides aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, bath seats and benches, commodes and toilet seats, crutches and canes, bed handles, and other medical equipment. Referral required from Health Authority, or from a private community care provider such as a family physician, chiropractor, or physical therapist. The Advanced Short Term Program provides a range of advanced equipment, such as hospital beds, specialty mattresses, and patient lifts. Referral required from a healthcare professional as identified by the Health Authority or health organization is required. Also accepts equipment donations at designated Health Equipment loan locations; please phone ahead to ensure that items are accepted at any given location.
