  Lawyers provide free help with drafting and executing advance planning documents, including wills, powers of attorney, and representation agreements, to eligible adults 55 years and older outside of the Lower Mainland.

  Lawyers provide free help with drafting and executing advance planning documents, including wills, powers of attorney, and representation agreements, to eligible adults 55 years and older outside of the Lower Mainland. Eligibility criteria include income, assets, and the nature of services sought. Gross income must be under $45,000 for a one-person household plus $20,000 per additional household member (eg. $65,000 for two, $85,000 for three, and $105,000 for four). An asset test and eligibility for representation and drafting services is discussed during the intake process; exceptions made on a case-by-case basis. In partnership with local host agencies, clinics are held monthly in Chilliwack, Haida Gwaii (Skidegate and Massett), Nanaimo, Prince George, Sechelt, and Williams Lake. To book an appointment, call the Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL) from 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday.

  Elder law clinic provides pro bono legal advice on a wide range of legal matters to eligible adults age 55 and over in BC, as well as third parties of any age if the older adult has barriers that make it difficult to speak on their own behalf.

  Elder law clinic provides pro bono legal advice on a wide range of legal matters to eligible adults age 55 and over in BC, as well as third parties of any age if the older adult has barriers that make it difficult to speak on their own behalf. Services include preparing advance planning documents, such as wills, powers of attorney, and representation agreements; explaining legal proceedings and what to expect in court; reviewing court documents; preparing cases and submissions; representation at certain court hearings; assistance in matters of adult guardianship; and general legal advice. Does not offer services in family or criminal law, but can direct people to other organizations that can provide assistance. Eligibility criteria include income, assets, and the nature of services sought. Gross income must be under $45,000 for a one-person household plus $20,000 per additional household member (eg. $65,000 for two, $85,000 for three, and $105,000 for four). An asset test and eligibility for representation and drafting services is discussed during the intake process; exceptions made on a case-by-case basis.   Community-based program provides telephone-based support to adults age 50 and over who have experienced crime and/or abuse.

  Community-based program provides telephone-based support to adults age 50 and over who have experienced crime and/or abuse. In some cases, services are also provided to affected parties (of any age), who have a close relationship with the older adult and witnessed the abuse or neglect. Clients receive support regardless of whether or not the matter has been reported to police. Assistance is provided over the phone and clients may remain anonymous. Self referral accepted. Also collaborates with local victim services programs and provincial partners for a coordinated response to and prevention of elder abuse, and raises awareness about abuse and crimes against older adults. Serves BC. Phone hours are 8 am to 8 pm weekdays. Funded by Ministry of Attorney General, Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (MPSSG).
