Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - Vernon and District Branch
Facilitates access to resources to improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. Programs and services include educational opportunities, wellness programs, independent rights advice, restorative justice, youth services, and social and recreational programs. Also offers workshops and courses on life skills, coping with depression, coping with workplace mental health, and suicide intervention. See website for clubhouse program calendar for participants. Also offers five free breakfasts a week and a free lunch on Wednesdays for participants. Intake form for programs available online. Offers employment services in partnership with WorkBC, as well as volunteer opportunities to build work-related skills and provide positive structure to the week. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to: kitchen prep/cleanup, coffee service, club leadership, clerical, retail experience at the Georgette Thrift Store, and janitorial duties. In partnership with BC Housing and Interior Health, offers Housing Programs that provide supported and subsidized housing units. Serves the North Okanagan including: Armstrong, Cherryville, Enderby, Lumby, and Vernon. Office hours are 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
