  A specialized employment program that provides comprehensive support for each participant, individually and within a group setting. This program recognizes and addresses unique barriers facing survivors of violence/abuse in the work search and environment and works to empower them to attain their employment goals while building a strong personal foundation. Individuals form connections that will be sustained before, during, and after their participation in the program. Groups and workshops are subject to change and vary with need. The program is subcontracted under Open Door and Work BC.

  Provides information about the criminal justice system, advocacy, emotional support, court accompaniment, and form completion assistance for self-identified girls, women, femmes, and 2SLBGTQI+ who have experienced violence in an intimate relationship, sexualized violence, any form of gender-based violence, or any form of criminal harrassment.

  Provides information about the criminal justice system, advocacy, emotional support, court accompaniment, and form completion assistance for self-identified girls, women, femmes, and 2SLBGTQI+ who have experienced violence in an intimate relationship, sexualized violence, any form of gender-based violence, or any form of criminal harrassment. Offers third party reporting to self-identified girls, women, femmes, and 2SLBGTQI+ victims of sexual assault; staff report the assault to police on behalf of the victim who remains anonymous. Also assists women who are dealing with child apprehension and navigating the criminal justice system. The intake and crisis line is available from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday; a voice message can be left after hours. If unable to speak safely, email intake@bwss.org for support.   12-week closed group for survivors who have experienced abuse (sexual, physical and/or emotional) from an intimate partner, childhood sexual abuse, or abuse in the psychiatric system. The purpose is to establish a safe framework for the healing process and to develop self-awareness and insight. Participants learn about self-care, boundaries, and communication. Services include Indigenous Women's Counselling/Stopping the Violence (STV) Program, First Nations Women's Support Worker/Community-Based Victim Services Program, and specialized support groups for Indigenous women.   Thrift store sells new and second-hand clothing and fashion accessories. Women leaving an abusive relationship may volunteer and obtain job training in the store, as well as access clothing at no cost. Revenue generated from sales help fund violence prevention and intervention services operated by Battered Women's Support Services. Accepts donations of consignment-quality goods during business hours. Main Street Store (3958 Main Street, 604-687-0770) and Commercial Drive Store (1830 Commercial Drive (604-251-7229) hours are 11 am to 6 pm daily. Also offers My Sister’s Closet Online Shop.

  Provides safe, temporary, affordable second-stage housing for self-identified women with or without children who have experienced intimate partner, domestic, and/or sexualized violence.

  Provides safe, temporary, affordable second-stage housing for self-identified women with or without children who have experienced intimate partner, domestic, and/or sexualized violence. Located in Vancouver. Offers comprehensive wrap-around support, including emotional support, counselling, advocacy, safety planning, court accompaniment, life skills training, parenting support, children's programs, recreation, referrals, and assistance in finding permanent housing. Residents are expected to actively engage in a Circles of Care program framework; see website for details. Support staff are on-site from 10 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. Length of stay is one year, with the possibility of an extension up to 18 months. Up to two companion animals may be accommodated. To apply, individuals should complete the online expression of interest form and send via email; phone calls cannot be accommodated. Referral from a first-stage transition house required. Funded by BC Housing.

  Offers diverse support groups for girls and women who have experienced any kind of violence or abuse (including stalking) by their intimate partner, regardless of their race, culture, physical ability, or sexual orientation. Includes a language-specific support group for Latin American women, and specialized support groups for trauma survivors, women seeking safety, and women dealing with substance use issues and violence. An ongoing drop-in group meets 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Tuesdays. Closed 10-week groups are offered four times a year; bus tickets are available.
