Delivers health care and support services through a network of health centres, hospitals, primary care clinics, residential care homes, and other facilities. Services include home and community care, mental health and substance use, health protection, public health, acute care, and other specialized programs. Free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids (like fentanyl, heroin, methadone, morphine, and oxycodone), are available at all hospitals, public health units, mental health and substance use offices, and other facilities throughout the health authority region. Request forms for access to personal health records can be obtained online (www.islandhealth.ca/about-us/accountability/information-stewardship-access-privacy/accessing-information-records). Also funds and operates assisted living facilities; intake is through regional Community Access Lines. Serves Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Responsible for service delivery on behalf of Ministry of Health (MOH). Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
